A Personal Invitation to Slow Down.

When I think back to my childhood, growing up as an only child, I remember those quiet moments of wandering around on my own. I’d find myself absolutely fascinated by the tiny world of insects, the patterns on leaves, or the way sunlight filtered through the trees. It wasn’t something I did on purpose; it was just a way of being, a slower pace that let me notice the little wonders that others might walk right by.

Greenwashing ;) A painter dangling down to paint the walls green. Couldn't help but notice the paint stains on his trousers.

As I got older, I realised that this habit of noticing brought a kind of quiet joy into my life. It’s not about having a formal practice or being an expert observer. It’s just about allowing yourself to slow down and look at the world with a little more curiosity. Whether I’m sipping my morning filter coffee and noticing the play of light on the table or taking a leisurely walk and admiring the way leaves overlap, it’s all about finding beauty in the ordinary.

And that’s what I’d love to invite you to do, too. The gentle art of noticing doesn’t require any special skills, just a willingness to pause. Maybe try walking a bit slower than usual or take a moment to really notice the details of something you see every day. It could be the pattern of shadows of buildings, the way people interact in a park, or even just the textures of objects on your desk.

I’d love to hear what you discover. What did you notice today that you might have overlooked before? Feel free to share your own moments of noticing. Let’s slow down and enjoy the details together.
